Tracking showers to close out the weekend

PEORIA (WEEK) - The rest of Saturday will be quiet with mainly clear skies overnight and lows in the low 60s. We’ll start off mostly sunny with some high, thin clouds Sunday morning before more cloud coverage moves in.

These clouds are ahead of a cold front that will bring a chance of showers in the late morning and better chances for scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon to early evening. Any storms that develop do not look to be severe but may be strong with gusty winds and some localized heavy rain as the two main concerns. The southeastern part of our viewing area, including Bloomington and Lincoln, is in a level one risk for a severe storm threat. The best chance for any severe weather remains to our south.

Highs on Sunday will likely be around noon in the low to mid 70s, as temperatures will gradually fall throughout the afternoon into the 60s thanks to the cold front. Winds will become light, and skies will clear after midnight. If you wait up, you will likely be able to catch some stage of the Lunar Eclipse that will begin near 11:15 PM and end around 1 AM!

More seasonable air will filter in behind the cold front for the start of the work week. Monday and Tuesday will feature mostly sunny skies and the low to mid 70s. Next rain chance arrives late Tuesday night into Wednesday.
