East Peoria Community High School superintendent issues statement on former transportation director
EAST PEORIA (25 NEWS) - The superintendent of East Peoria Community High School has issued a statement following the arrest and indictment of the district’s most previous transportation director on sex crime charges.
On Tuesday, December 14th, the Administration of East Peoria High School District No. 309 was notified that the District’s Director of Transportation, Shawn DasGupta, was the subject of a criminal complaint involving sexual misconduct with a minor not connected to the school. The employee was immediately placed on administrative leave and resigned his position. He will not return. On December 16th, school officials were notified that the individual has been criminally charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse. We have no information suggesting that the employee engaged in any inappropriate conduct with EPCHS students or other persons connected to the school. Persons with any information about the case should contact the East Peoria Police Department.
Shawn Dasgupta was arrested December 15 and is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to the Tazewell County Jail.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, January 13, at 2:30 p.m.
