Metamora Township High School to offer COVID testing for students
METAMORA (25 NEWS) - Metamora Township High School is offering COVID-19 testing for students showing symptoms, administrators said Tuesday.
In an email to families, school leaders said University of Illinois SHIELD saliva-based tests will be given to students on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the school’s parking lot.
“We have heard that securing a test can be difficult, that the lines are long, and that the turn-around time on results has been slow,” administrators said.
Parents and guardians must sign a consent form.
SHIELD test results are available within 24 hours, and symptomatic students waiting for the results must stay at home.
As of Tuesday, 17 MTHS students were out of school with COVID-19 and eight students were home awaiting COVID test results.
