BLOOMINGTON (25 NEWS) - A group of cyclists got together in Bloomington Saturday to ring in the New Year with a trip around the Twin Cities.

It was the New Year’s Day ‘Ride and Social’ in Tipton Park, led by the McLean County Wheelers - a club for cycling enthusiasts.

The group rode their bikes around for six miles, starting at the Tipton Trails and heading through the Constitution Trail.

McLean County Wheelers club president Kellie Williams said cyclists can bike in all types of weather, and that it is all about staying prepared.

“You can’t not smile when you’re riding a bike, even in weather like this,” Williams said. “These folks are great. We cycle for fitness and for everybody, and we encourage everybody to ride a bike and it’s always great to get out and see people.”

After the ride, the group enjoyed a post-ride social, where participants got to enjoy some snacks and warm drinks.
