Local contractor dead after fall at Caterpillar Mapleton Foundry

UPDATE 4:33 P.M. - Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood confirms the man is Scott W. Adams, 50, of East Peoria.

Harwood says Adams was pronounced dead at 11:02 a.m.

Autopsy findings are pending.

MAPLETON (25 NEWS) - A local contractor working at Caterpillar’s Mapleton Foundry has died, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 9:40 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the foundry at 8826 Route 24 on a man that fell from a significant height.

The identity of the man will be released by the coroner, pending notifications.

The sheriff’s office says the man was 50 years old and from East Peoria, working for a local contractor that was working on the property.

The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, Timber-Hollis Fire Department, and AMT responded to the scene. The accident is still under investigation by Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
