LEWISTOWN (25 NEWS) - The Fulton County community remembered a fallen sheriff’s deputy Tuesday morning with a new memorial.

A crowd of around 100 looked on as the memorial was unveiled in front of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. The memorial itself is a black plaque around six-feet tall, and it honors all law enforcement who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

But one in particular remains in the hearts of many in Fulton County. Deputy Troy Chisum was shot and killed while on duty in June 2019. Sheriff Jeff Standard says he though long and hard about what he wanted the memorial to convey. He called it a day of remembrance and and healing as they honor Troy’s legacy.

“[Troy] went out and did everything that he possibly could. Firefighter, EMT, Police Officer, just because he loved to help others,” Sheriff Standard said. “You can never replace that. Just his unbridled love for the community is his legacy.”

The man who killed Chisum, Nathan Woodring, was convicted of first degree murder in late October.
