East Peoria community ‘Shop and Stroll’ through Four Corners District
EAST PEORIA (25 NEWS) - Residents in East Peoria took advantage of the nice weather Saturday by getting out to FOLEPI’s ‘Shop and Stroll’.
Customers shopped around at 13 locally owned businesses in the Four Corners District and got discounts on items like furniture, jewelry and food.
Vickie McDonald, a first time participant at ‘Shop and Stroll’ took advantage of the 30% off on some of the items at local store “Vintique.”
McDonald said she’s happy to support small businesses in the community.
“I got a sleigh that I’m gonna use for a centerpiece on my front porch,” McDonald said.
“It was quite a bargain. It’s just a way to support the East Peoria community and we’re glad to be able to,” she added.
The Old Town Smokehouse is a new small business in East Peoria, opening just six weeks ago.
It’s a family owned restaurant where people enjoyed 10% off home cooked smoked meals like loaded fries, hamburgers, sandwiches, and more.
Owner Terry Williamson said taking part in the event is a great way to introduce their business to the East Peoria community during the holidays.
“It’s really exciting to be a part of the community and have the people coming in and really showing their support,” Williamson said.
“We have a lot of people coming in from all over to stop in for lunch and to show the support for small business,” he added.
Participants in ‘Shop and Stroll’ also got to enjoy activities like carriage rides and balloon art.
Those who spent $25 or more at participating businesses got free admission to FOLEPI’S Winter Wonderland.
