EAST PEORIA (25 News) - Sneakerheads in East Peoria came out to the local conference center to find some new kicks at the 309 Sneaker Fest Saturday.

Inspired by BET’s ‘Sneaker Con’, organizers brought the event to the River City where people can buy, sell and trade sneakers and also take part in a sneaker giveaway.

Vendors also sold clothes, a bouncy house for kids, music, performances from local artists and more.

Tammy Wyatt, morning show host for Strictly Hip Hop 90.7 FM, said the event is a way for folks to bring something different to the community and embrace sneaker culture.

“It’s nothing like this that’s going on around. We have people who try to sell through social media. So this is just like an event where we can all come together and check out what everyone has in the community,” Wyatt said.

Wyatt along with other organizers will host “Toys in the Neighborhood” Dec. 18 where they will be handing out toys to local kids.
