PEORIA (25 NEWS) - Officials say one person was found dead after crews responded to a house fire Thursday night.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., Peoria firefighters and paramedics responded to a residence in the 1600 block of South Livingston Street - near the corner of West Hayes Street.

Officials say there was a heavy fire bursting out of a front window, and upon entering the home, they immediately found a victim on the floor.

They say the victim did not show signs of life and was kept inside the home while crews got the fire under control.

The fire was brought under control in 15 minutes, but crews took an additional 40 minutes searching for fire extension and putting out hot spots.

A fire investigator and a coroner were called to the scene, and officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
