BLOOMINGTON (25 NEWS) - Home Sweet Home Ministries is celebrating its 104th year serving the Twin Cities by delivering meals to the community on Thanksgiving.

150 volunteers brought warm meals to more than 400 people who can’t gather with their loved ones for the holiday.

The organization was founded on Thanksgiving day in 1917 and development and communications manager Leslie Bunge said the meal delivery is a way to continue serving and bringing smiles to the community.

“They were very grateful, very blessed,” Bunge said.

“We had actually quite a few people call back to be like ‘you got me on the list right? I want to make sure I’m on the list.’ They were just so excited and so grateful that this was back this year. Some people rely on us for this and it means so much to them,” she added.

Bunge said the meal delivery was cancelled last year because of the pandemic and said it felt great to bring the tradition back.
