Illinois unemployment down for seventh straight month, jobs up in all areas
PEORIA (25 NEWS) - Jobs were up -- and the unemployment rate is down over the year in all 14 metro areas in October for the seventh straight month, according to preliminary data released Wednesday from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Illinois Department of Employment Security.
A state release says total nonfarm jobs increased in all 14 metro areas.; Peoria saw a not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decrease of 1.6 to 4.7% in October. Bloomington dropped 1.2 to 3.7%.
The total nonfarm jobs for the Peoria metro area increased 1,800 over the year -- to 164,600.
For the Bloomington metro -- the increase was 100 up to 89,100.
