Street racing, joy riding doesn’t appear to be a factor in Friday night fatal crash
PEORIA (25 News) - Peoria Poice say street racing or joyriding does not appear to factor into Friday night’s fatal crash at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Bryan Street.
In an update, police say the preliminary shows only one vehicle apparently traveling above the speed limit.
The investigation is ongoing. The direct cause of the crash is still being determined.
Police responded to the intersection on Friday, November 19 at around 5:35 p.m.
The occupant of one vehicle, a male driver, was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identified the man as 56-year-old Rodney C. Golar of Peoria.
Harwood said Golar had suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries and was in grave condition at the scene. He added Golar likely died shortly after the collision.
Occupants of the second vehicle, a man and woman, were transported to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
