PEORIA (25 NEWS) - A $100,000 federal grant will help local leaders develop a safety improvement plan for Veterans Parkway in the Twin-Cities.

The money comes from the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity program, or RAISE, said Congressmen Rodney Davis and Darin LaHood in a news release.

The McLean County Regional Planning Commission is working to identify potential safety improvements, including safer pathways for bicyclists and pedestrians, and ramps with rolling access for people with disabilities, the lawmakers said.

Davis, a Republican, praised Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and the Biden Administration for “recognizing the importance of investing in central Illinois’ infrastructure.”
