Family of gun violence victim holds vigil

PEORIA (25 NEWS) - Dequwan Pruitt came from the funeral of a friend who’s life was cut short due to gun violence, that day he fell victim to the same thing.

Pruitt’s family and friends remembered him and the joy he brought them.

Pruitt was gunned down around 2:30 PM on Monday in a front yard on Sheridan rd.

The 15-year old was described as funny and a people person. He was into sports and loved his friends.

For many people close to Pruitt they also mourned his friend Rayton Brock.

Brock died in October, after also being gunned down. On his last day, Pruitt attended his friends funeral.

On Wednesday night the spot where Pruitt was shot was be filled with mourning.

With candles, the group released their balloons and said good-bye to their brother and friend.

Dequwan was lovely known as “Nook” to friends and family.

He went to Richwoods High School and his family set up a GoFundMe for funeral expenses.
