UPDATE ( 9 p.m.) - Peoria Police said in a news release that investigators do not have information on the vehicle that struck the child who was riding a bicycle Tuesday evening in the 1600 block of NE Glen Oak Avenue.

Police said the child, age and gender not revealed, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

PEORIA (25 NEWS) - A child suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday night in a hit-and-run crash.

Peoria Police spokesperson Semone Roth said the crash happened about 7:15 p.m. in the 1600 block of NE Glen Oak Avenue.

Roth said the child was riding a bicycle, and investigators did not immediately have a description of the vehicle.

Police are not revealing the victim’s age or gender.

Authorities said they’re diverting traffic away from Glen Oak and Prospect while police conduct the investigation.
