Tessa Mizell works at the Bloomington-Normal YMCA.
Her work at the YMCA really integrates well with what she does with Bloomington-Normal Young Professionals.
“Bed Blitz is a service opportunity that we have found through the West Bloomington Revitalization Project and the Tool Library,” she said “We build beds for youth in the McLean County area who may otherwise not have a bed to sleep in.”
“Those who have shared a bed or slept on a couch for most of their life. All of the things you can think of for a bed: sheets, mattresses, pillows, pillowcases, stuffed animals. Anything you can think of for your bed is donated.
“They are also featured on the Drew Barrymore show,” she said. “So that’s kind of neat.”
For someone to think that I am worthy of this recognition is just really thoughtful and encouraging.
