25 Women in Leadership: Frances Reyes
August 12, 2021
Frances Reyes does this work knowing that people can change.
They can change a behavior. They can change a pattern.
Frances Reyes works for the Center for Prevention of Abuse where she’s the Director of Domestic Violence Family Centered Services overseeing two emergency family shelters, one in Peoria and one in Pekin.
They work with clients who are in a crisis, who are escaping or fleeing an unsafe situation at home. They attribute an increase in hotline calls to the pandemic.
Because of that, they pivoted and. They came up with a plan very quickly and the leadership team here sat down and in a matter of 24 hours we came up with a plan. They never closed services down because they know domestic violence doesn’t stop even when a pandemic starts.
Reyes says to be recognized is a remarkable feeling, something that cannot be described.
“It’s just an incredible honor and I am very proud to have received this award.”
