Canton Teams bring home the GOLD!!

Canton Special Olympics has two teams, Gold and Purple but after they each won thier division at the State Special Olympics basketball tournament - both teams are wearing the Gold Medals!The State Special Olympic Basketball Tournament was held at ISU this weekend, March 15-16, bringing in the top special olympic teams from the all over the state.Teams were divided up in divisions based on previous games played at the regional levels.Canton is represented by two teams, the younger, Gold team, and the vetern Purple team. Both teams were able to capture gold medals this weekend at ISU. Upon thier return to Canton they were greeted by the Canton Fire Department and the Canton Police Department, with the fire department leading the Gold Medal teams' bus back to the school!The escort was a real highlight and wonderful tribute to the althetes who work and compete hard throughout the season. Both Canton teams are coached by Greg Stephenson.
