Chuck Collins and WEEK 25 News had the privilege of hosting the Boy Scouts of America from the Central Illinois Packs. We were fortunate enough to have representation from four different Illinois areas, and from every level of the Scouts.
During a conversation with several boys, they all described what they loved about scouting. David Simon, Thea Simon, John Alexander and Joey Alexander represent The St Vincent de Paul Pack 156, and Mossville Pack 50.
"I love the fishing!" David Shimon said. Where his brother, Theo said "I enjoy helping other people."
As the changes are taking effect across the Boy Scouts, we are told that girls were coming no matter what and making the change was the right thing to do. Young ladies were being brought with siblings and mom, all with great interest.
A perfect example was Keslyn Ragon, the only girl in a uniform at the event. Even though she is in Boy scouts as a Weblos, she is also a Girls Scout because she likes the activities that both organizations offer.
"I am a Junior Girl Scout as well as a Weblos," Ragon said. "I like doing all the out door stuff, archery, marshmallows; camping is my favorite."
