UPDATE: Man charged in connection with fight with Bloomington Police Officers

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

4:22 AM UPDATE 7/12: Court records show 22-year-old Jusstin Johnson in the McLean County Jail on three counts of resisting an officer, aggravated battery of an officer, and unlawful use of weapons by a felon.

Early Monday morning, Bloomington Police stopped two men, at the intersection of McLean and Oakland.

As citations were being issued, one man, later identified as Johnson, began to make suspicious movements, including attempting to conceal his hands, even after multiple verbal commands from the officers.

A struggle ensued, and during the exchange, a fight broke out.....that's how the officers were hurt.

The man did have a weapon with him, it was recovered by police.

No shots were fired.

In a statement, the Bloomington Police Department says four officers were injured.

Their injuries are considered slight to moderate, and sought private medical treatment.

Johnson was also slightly injured in the struggle.

He was taken to the hospital before being transported to the McLean County Jail.

Johnson is due to be arraigned in McLean County Court on July 20th.


ORIGINAL STORY 7/9 5:12 AM: Three Bloomington police officers are slightly hurt after an early morning fight.

Police say officers stopped a man that was walking near the intersection of Oakland and McLean shortly after midnight.

During the exchange, a fight broke out.....that's how the officers were hurt.

The man did have a weapon with him, it was recovered by police.

No shots were fired.

The unidentified man is in custody, and officers will consult with the state's attorney office about charges.
