If the price of adoption had anything to do with you not rushing to the aid of a shelter kitten, you can now rule that out.
Starting Monday, July 9th and running through Saturday, July 14th, PCAPS (Peoria County Animal Protection Services) will allow qualified candidates to take home the tiny, four-legged friends at no cost.
During that week adoption fees are waived, though adopters must still meet certain requirements.
For example, if you rent, you must provide proof from your landlord that a pet is welcome. Also, if any other pets are in your home, you must have proof of their vaccinations.
And to add onto this temporary program, every adopted cat or kitten will go home spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, with their first round of age appropriate vaccines, and 30 days of free pet health insurance. All of these together could potentially run a few hundred dollars, otherwise.
This free adoption will happen two more times in 2018 - July 23-28, and Aug 13-18.
