A local Entrepreneur has built a central Illinois even venue out of local history. Chuck Wright has spent years restoring his property called Castle Gardens in Lexington Illinois.
The property includes a 121-year-old historic home.
As a way to preserve history and share it with others, Wright has also restored a 1940's Carousel that is onsite, and turned an 1800's horse-drawn wagon into a stage where they do things like live performance. Tonight's performance feature is Firebox Bluegrass in concert.
"It is almost impossible to realize the ambiance of the place until you drive up in here. There's rolling hills which you really don't have much of Central Illinois, beautiful native prairie pasture. But it is in this country setting where you just feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere but you are really only a half mile off the interstate," Wright said.
In August, they'll feature country music star Craig Campbell in concert. That show is actually a benefit for the family of a McLean County young man who was killed in a car accident.
