GALESBURG, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

The man charged with killing Galesburg mother-of-two Jenni McGruder on Easter Sunday pleaded not guilty Monday.

The Galesburg Register-Mail reports Jonathan Kelly, 28, made the plea in Knox County Court on Monday afternoon. He is charged with three counts of first-degree murder, felony aggravated discharge of a firearm, and felony possession of a weapon by a felon.

McGruder, 26, was leaving a birthday party at the Seminary Street Pub when she was struck by a stray bullet, police said. Kelly is charged with firing that bullet.

Kelly was arrested by authorities in South Dakota in May, and extradited back to Illinois last week.
