Illinois American Water's Peoria District is trying to improve its water service distribution system.
The investment includes replacing and installing more than nine miles of water main across the Peoria district. They are focusing on replacing mains where leaks occur, corrosion has caused damage or the size of the pipe isn't sufficient. Customers affected by the work will be notified via letter about the impact and any letters about the impact and any necessary steps.
"It will take place over the summer and into the fall to replace that amount of main. It's important to continue to upgrade the water system, that it meet's demand and we are providing the best service to our customers," Karen Cotton said, from Illinois American Water.
