EAST PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

Due to the increased rainfall recently in Central Illinois, a section of the River Trail in East Peoria has been shut down.

The trail has been closed because of recent flooding to the area located on Maheny Road.  The Fondulac Park District does not know when they are going to allow people on the trail again, but hopes it will reopen soon.

These water woes continue for this trail.  Looking back on May 30th the same trail was closed indefinitely in Morton from Oak Lawn heading west toward East Peoria.  That's because the extreme rain caused parts of the trail to buckle and collapse.  At last check the Morton Park District said they were working on solutions to make repairs.
