Be vigilant: Road construction at its peak

Posted: Updated:
Winter has left us with a season of IDOT road construction. Winter has left us with a season of IDOT road construction.
PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -

Construction can be an inconvenience causing traffic delays and closed roads.  It is always a situation we try to avoid. Summer season kicks off several road projects that will be under construction.

Until fall you may want to avoid certain areas around town which are currently under construction.

Parts of MacArthur Highway, areas on Knoxville, the intersection of Allen Road and Willow Knolls are all currently having work done and should try to be avoided or use all detours.

" We have detours in place. We ask people to find alternate routes. And we ask them to drive cautiously through the construction zones when they have to," Bill Lewis said, Public Works City Engineer. "Be courteous of the neighborhoods when you do find cut through areas. But the best thing is just to leave early. Allow yourself some time to get through construction because there will be delays throughout," Lewis said.

Please anticipate those areas to be under construction throughout the summer and please be alert to those workers in construction zones.
