Bloomington police identify double homicide victims

Posted: Updated:

Bloomington Police  have identified the two people who were shot and killed during a party over the weekend.   They are 20-year-old Taneshiea Brown and 18-year-old Steven Alexander Jr. both of  Bloomington.   Police are still trying to piece together details of the fatal shooting that also left two others injured.  Their names have not been released.  Investigators say Brown and Alexander  were both standing in the back of an apartment in the 1200 block of Orchard Road just after one o'clock Sunday morning when they were shot.  One neighbor said up to 100 people were outside in that area at the time.   Police are still trying to get witnesses to come forth with information.

"Our officer had reported to 1221 Orchard, then in the rear of that area we had found our four victims," said Bloomington Police department Spokesman Elias Mendiola.

Police said an autopsy showed both Brown and Alexander died of gunshot wounds.   But they are not saying how many times each of them were shot.  It's also unclear if they were targeted or innocent bystanders.   Police said they still need to talk to witnesses who were attending the party.   They're asking anyone with information to call McLean County Crime stoppers at 828-1111.   Police have not arrested any suspects.
