The statue of Bradley University's founder, Lydia Moss Bradley, was run over by a van and torn off it's base Saturday night.
The incident happened around 9:30PM Saturday. Campus police on-scene said the statue was still in one piece, and was tossed around thirty feet from the pedestal in the middle of the walkway.
Bradley University's student newspaper said the culprit was driving a van and apparently fell asleep at the wheel. Airbags were deployed, but otherwise the van was not badly damaged. The driver was checked on scene and refused further medical treatment. No citations were issued.
