Two people are dead and two more injured after an early Sunday shooting in Bloomington.
The Bloomington Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Orchard around 1:10 a.m. on a report of multiple shots fired. A man and a woman were pronounced dead around 1:17 a.m. at the scene. Another man and woman suffered non life-threatening gunshot wounds in the incident, and were transported to a local hospital.
Public Information Officer Elias Mendiola said when officers arrived on scene it was chaotic.
The Bloomington Police Department and neighbors confirmed a party was going on.
"They were just getting together, having fun and stuff and all the sudden this stuff happens," said neighbor Ken Westerhausen.
Neighbors told 25 News they heard about 10 gunshots.
Elizabeth Lemons has lived on Orchard Road for 20 years and said she checked out the scene and saw the female victim on the ground and what looked like a bullet that might have glazed her arm.
"I guess if you are here long enough, you get used to the shootings, but you know, I'm just afraid a bullet may come through my window or something and hit us, while sitting on the couch or something so, yeah, it's scary," said neighbor Danita Russell.
All victims were adults. The identities of the victims are being withheld pending family notification.
"And we do want those individuals who know anything with the gathering, especially those who were there, to reach out and get a hold of our detectives," said Mendiola.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Paul Swanlund, 309-434-2373, or Detective Steve Fanelli, 309-434-2457.
