UPDATE: Who will choose the Democrats next executive in Illinois?
House Speaker Michael Madigan is leaving it mostly up to the ladies. At least those named to a new committee tasked with the search.
The post was vacated Wednesday, June 6 when Madigan's Chief of Staff, Timothy Mapes, resigned.
The resignation came amidst allegations of inappropriate comments and mishandling of sexual harassment complaints in the house. Speaker Madigan said today, that all 18 women on the Democratic State Central Committee will conduct the search.
More calls for an Independent investigation into Illinois Speaker of the House, Michael Madigan's Office. Those looking for more to be done are coming from Democratic women.
Three female state representatives made the announcement today. They are calling for the investigation following accusations made against Madigan's Chief of Staff, Tim Mapes. Yesterday an Aide accused Mapes of lewd comments and mishandling instances of sexual harassment. Since the accusation, Mapes has resigned.
Madigan said yesterday he would appoint an investigator to further examine House operations.
