Peoria County held its 14th Annual Emergency Expo at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie. The event is aimed at introducing the public to some of the men and women willing to risk their lives to keep us safe.
Families from all over Central Illinois came out to meet the various first responders from the Peoria fire and police departments. Kids got the chance to try their hands at spraying a fire hose or hopping in the back of a police rescue vehicle.
"I think it's a fantastic event, one because you get to see people face-to-face that you wouldn't normally be able to meet on the job and then for kids to be familiar with the people who take care of our community. I think its really important," said Lizzy Jeffers, who attended the expo.
Organizers say this was one of the biggest emergency expos they've held in Peoria County.
