PEORIA COUNTY (WEEK) -- The rock slide on Kickapoo Creek Road has shut down access near Hardee's in Bartonville and now citizens are wondering when access to the road will be given again.
With the mineral debris being as bad as it is, people are wondering when cleanup will begin. Currently, we are being told the clean up is going to take a while. Work is expected to begin next week. The current detour is I-474, where road construction has started today.
County engineer, Amy McLaren, says she's never seen anything like this before. " I've been here for over 20 years and this is the largest rock slide we've had since I started at the county. So I was unsure of how large it was. First I wanted to make sure that everyone was okay, that there weren't any vehicles involved, there was nobody injured. And so when I actually got out here and saw the magnitude it was pretty shocking," Mclaren said.
