Midwest Food Bank to begin partnership with Heartland Community College
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WEEK) -- A new partnership with the Heartland Community College and the Midwest Food Bank are creating a win-win scenario for community services.
Starting in July, students in Heartland Community College's truck driving program will be hauling food and product for the Midwest Food Bank. These loads will not only help the Midwest Food Bank with distribution of product to other areas around Central Illinois, but it will give the students at Heartland Community College practical experience with real loads.
The Midwest Food Bank, a non-profit, has several loading dock that are not used regularly. With the low usage of these docks the students will get "real world" practical experience using loading docks and hauling real loads for customers. In turn, the Midwest food bank will get at least four routes driven a month for free.
