Director of Healthcare and Family Services, Felicia Norwood
CHICAGO (WEEK) -- Gov. Bruce Rauner announced that Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services Director (HFS), Felicia Norwood has decided to take a position in the private sector.
Director Felicia Norwood was appointed by Gov. Rauner in January 2015. Norwood's task is making sure our most vulnerable citizens have access to affordable, high-quality care while keeping casts sustainable and ensure the current programs are effective and efficient. Norwood oversees an operating budget of about $20 Billion, which is about one third of the entire state budget.
According to Gov. Rauner, “Director Norwood has been steadfast in her efforts to ensure the state’s most vulnerable citizens have access to quality healthcare. She led Illinois’ Medicaid reboot that will deliver better services at a better price.
Norwood's dedication and commitment led to one of the most significant developments in the history of Illinois health programs, securing a $2 billion federal 1115 waiver -- “Better Care Illinois” -- a multi-agency effort to create a nation-leading approach to behavioral health.
The search for a replacement is underway and Director Norwood will remain on staff until June 15.
