Ronald McDonald Charities of Central Illinois is building a new $7 million, 22-bedroom Ronald McDonald House in Peoria.
The new facility at Spalding and NE Monroe will serve over 700 families annually so they can stay close to their children in the hospital.
”The new Peoria Ronald McDonald House will continue to build and expand Peoria’s growing medical district services,” said Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis. “Not only will it be good for Peoria and our economic development, but it will also help families save precious dollars and keep them close to their children during a very stressful time in their lives.”
Input on the project was received from more than 40 individuals and organizations throughout the community.
More than half the funds from the capital campaign for the 4.5 story building are committed. The building will include a community room, kitchen, game room, playground, and more.
“I’m thrilled to have the new Peoria Ronald McDonald House coming to my district. This House fulfills an essential community need by providing families a place to stay free of charge while caring for their critically ill child,” said First District Councilwoman Denise Moore.
Moore will host a meet and greet for the community about the project on Wednesday, June 13 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Gateway Building, 200 NE Water St.
