24 fire departments respond to downtown Dwight fire

DWIGHT, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

Two dozen fire departments responded to a three-alarm fire in downtown Dwight Sunday. 

The Dwight Fire Department, police department and EMS responded to the blaze at the Ron De Voo Bar, 112 S. Franklin, just after 6 p.m. Several buildings in downtown Dwight sustained heavy damages. 

Firefighters were able to save the American flag flying over the building and return it to the business owner. 

Firefighters remained on scene for several hours to extinguish the fire and ensure it did not rekindle. No one was injured in the fire. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.

MABAS 15, the Dwight Fire Department and Dwight Police Department are investigating.
