School's out and that deserves to be celebrated, right?
Many in our community thought so. Saturday afternoon people got together at Glen Oak Primary School in Peoria for some fun. They enjoyed local talent, like dancers, and other performers, a cool bounce-house and free food. Organizers said it's an opportunity for people to meet who normally wouldn't interact.
"I believe it's important because it helps foster unity. It helps foster togetherness. If you know your neighbor, than maybe you can help your neighbor, maybe that neighbor can help you," said School Board Member Gregory Wilson.
Wilson added that they organized this event to help put smiles on kids' faces.
Organizers said it's a positive thing for the community. It's their fourth annual event and they said about 400 people showed up.
