It's about to get splashing on the south side of Peoria.
Ground was broken today on a "splashpark", just in time for summer located at Harrison park.
Along with the Peoria Housing Authority, the American Water Foundation and Illinois American Water, they will build this fun and educational summer haven over the next several weeks.
It should be done by the end of July.
"Then it went to the final round, and the city of Peoria was lucky enough to receive a $150,000 grant from our American Water charitable foundation. It was one of four that was awarded throughout the year. And it has about until the end of August for when it has to be built," said Roger Goodson senior manager of the western division for Illinois American Water.
The goal is for children to have something fun to do, and learn something in the process.
