More jobs are opening up in central Illinois.
Friday we talked to Absolute Staffing, INC. They said they have filled about 20 positions in the last month and although that sounds good, they said they have many jobs still to fill.
For example, they have openings in assembly, welding, office positions and trucking.
The New York Times reports trucking jobs accounted for almost 7,000 added jobs in the United States last month.
A staff member we spoke to said more companies around the area are expanding and adding positions.
"I definitely see employment placement throughout central Illinois. Like I said, we've placed a lot of people over the last month, over the last six months, and it seems to keep growing and getting more busy in our office at absolute staffing," said Senior Recruiter, Jackie Sturgis.
She said those seeking employment are those willing to try new things or have been laid off.
Nationally, the unemployment rate is 3.8 percent, down from 3.9 percent in April. The Illinois Department of Employment Security said Illinois' unemployment rate is at 3.6 percent as of April. Peoria's was at 4.1 percent and Bloomington at 3.1 percent.
