PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

Peoria County, Ill. (WEEK) -- Authorities in Peoria County are currently trying to clear a rock slide on Kickapoo Rd. The boulders from the slide are blocking the part of Kickapoo Creek Road and the Highway Department has closed the road between Harmon Highway and the Hardee's in Bartonville.

The Highway Department says the rainy weather may be to blame for the piles of sandstone and recycled concrete spilling onto the roadway.  Their current concern is what is above the rocks that fell, and how is that going to be impacted by the current landslide. They are not sure if there will be more problems and if more rocks will fall creating additional damage when they remove the original rubble.

There are no words when the roads will reopen.
