Two teens arrested for using fake money in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

Two teenagers passing fake $100 bills in Bloomington were arrested on multiple counts. 

Last Saturday, Bloomington police were told of fake $100 bills passed at five retail stores in east Bloomington. Officers later spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle, and pulled it over at Eastland and Prospect. A search of the vehicle recovered items matching those purchased with the counterfeit money, as well as several additional fake bills. 

Kayonna D. Howard, 18, of Chicago was arrested for multiple counts of burglary without causing damage, multiple counts of theft by deception with intent less than $500, and multiple counts of obstruction of justice/destroying evidence. Denokey K. Midderhoff, 18, also of Chicago, was arrested for obstruction of justice/destroying evidence. A 17-year-old from Chicago was released without charges. 

Howard and Midderhoff are in the McLean County Jail.
