LAS VEGAS (WEEK) -- The parent company of East Peoria's Par-a-Dice Hotel and Casino is supportive of today's U.S. Supreme Court decision to strike down a ban on sports betting in many states.

Boyd Gaming President and CEO Keith Smith said the company is "excited" by the Supreme Court's decision, and views the expansion of sports betting as a "growth opportunity."

However, the company did not comment on whether or not they will bring sports betting to its East Peoria casino specifically.

"Whether we ultimately offer sports betting in specific states will depend on the rules and tax rates set forth by each state.  It is still too early to say which specific opportunities we will pursue, but we are monitoring the situation very closely, and are prepared to act quickly as individual states move forward with legislation," said Smith.

A proposal is currently awaiting action in the Illinois General Assembly. It would set the tax rate on sports betting revenue at 12.5 percent.
