UPDATE: Victim, second driver identified in Rt. 116 multi-car accident

GERMANTOWN HILLS, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

UPDATE (8:35PM 5/12): Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman has identified the victim of the accident as Kennedie L. Vote, 19, of Germantown Hills. She was pronounced dead at the scene, just after 3:45 PM.

The second driver involved has also been identified by State Police as Dawn Morris of East Peoria. A third driver, only identified as a 17-year-old, was taken to an area hospital. 

The scene remains under investigation by both Illinois State Police and the Woodford County Coroner's office.


One person is dead after a crash on westbound Illinois Route 116 near Germantown Hills. 

The Illinois State Police said a three-vehicle crash will likely keep Illinois Route 116 at N. Bylerly Hills Dr. shut down for hours.

The crash happened in Woodford County just after 3:45 p.m. The state police said a black Ford pickup was heading east on 116 when the driver lost control, striking a median guard rail. The truck then headed into the westbound lanes of Route 116, hitting a gold Honda sedan. Debris from the truck also hit a beige Honda van traveling west on Route 116. 

One person was pronounced dead on scene, the state police said. One person was also taken to a local hospital. 

All westbound lanes of Illinois Route 116 are currently closed at 116 and N. Byerly Hills The closure is expected to last several hours. 

"Please use caution when traveling through the area, and plan to utilize alternate routes," said Trooper Lisa Osborne of the Illinois State Police. 

The name of the person killed in the accident is being withheld pending family notification. The cause of the accident is under investigation. It is unknown if all people involved were wearing seatbelts.
