Kids will be free for the summer real soon. That's why one group of students got some lessons in bicycle safety on Thursday. More than two dozen first graders from St. Jude Catholic School in Peoria are testing their skills on the streets at Bicycle Town.
"I'm just a big proponent of bicycle safety lessons. We taught hand signals, correct helmet usage. A lot of these kids live in the neighborhood, so they get out and they ride their bikes," said St. Jude Catholic School Teacher Mary Kenney.
The students who broke some of the traffic rules were given tickets, to give them an idea of what could happen in real life.
