Bloomington Police Chief Brendan Heffner's last day on the job will be this Friday, but he will still be in area law enforcement.
Heffner will retire from the Bloomington Police Department effective May 11. He was recently confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as the U.S. Marshal for the Central District of Illinois in an unanimous vote.
Heffner began working at the Bloomington Police Department in October 2013 after previously serving with the Illinois State Police and Normal Police Department.
A reception for Heffner will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, May 11 in the BPD's Osborn Room.
