Lane closures on Knoxville will last now through September.
PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- -
Expect to run into some major lane closures on Knoxville between Pennsylvania and Corrington now through September.
The Illinois Department of Transportation said the closures are necessary to perform resurfacing work on Knoxville, as well as minor sidewalk and traffic signal upgrades. For the duration of the project, Knoxville will be reduced to one lane in each direction, with left turns allowed only at Pennsylvania, Richmond, Nebraska, Thrush and McClure.
Traffic will be contained to 9-foot wide lanes each way until the end of July. From July through September, lane widths will be widened to 10 feet.
Through traffic is encouraged to use Interstate 74 to and from U.S. 150 (War Memorial Drive) or Illinois Route 29 (Adams/Jefferson) to or from U.S. 150.
