Dogs celebrate their own version of Cinco de Mayo

PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

Cinco de Mayo is a holiday not just for people, but our furry friends too.

Camp Bow Wow in Peoria held a 'Cinco de Bow Wow' event as part of their grand opening. The dogs were able to take a dip and beat the heat, and their owners - or those looking to add a new member to their family- were able to bid in fundraising silent auctions, take tours, and even get set up for on-the-spot adoptions. They offered trainings too.

"This is great for the dogs to come out and socialize, have some time to roam around. and enjoy this beautiful weather. We couldn't have been luckier with how it turned out today," said co-owner Cassie Snell.

Snell said people stopped by all day Saturday and said this won't be the last pet-party the camp can hold for our community.
