A white-tailed doe who had become friendly with residents of the village of McLean was relocated Wednesday to a new home.
The McLean Police Department said the deer was humanely sedated and transported to a rehabilitator without incident or injury.
"Thank you to all who helped us keep eyes on the deer to let us know were she has been seen until we could get this set up with the other agencies. It was a great coordinated effort by all with a great outcome," said the department.
The police were assisted by the United States Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division and Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police.
The McLean Police Department reminds residents not to feed deer or other wild animals, but to leave them alone and let them go on their way.
