The Peoria Fire Department said two fires in Peoria's South Side were likely started by kids.
Firefighters responded to the 1400 block of S. Griswold just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday on a report of a garage on fire. A small grass fire was already burning in the area. By the time firefighters arrived, the garage had burned to the ground.
Firefighters stayed on scene for over an hour to tear down the garage and ensure the blaze was out completely. A vehicle a neighbor was storing in the garage is also a total loss.
Damage is estimated at $25,000. The fire is under investigation.
