The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said they may have discovered the weapon used in the murder of Spring Valley teenager Diamond Bradley.
Police searched the former workplace of suspect Richard A. Henderson of Standard on Wednesday. During the search of Color Point in rural Granville, police discovered a knife which they believe was used in the January murder of the teenager whose body was found in a rural Putnam County ditch.
The knife discovered by police is currently being analyzed at the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Service Lab.
Henderson, 26, was arrested days after Bradley's body was discovered. It is believed Henderson picked up the 16-year-old Bradley in Spring Valley and drove her directly to the location where her body was later found. Henderson is charged with concealment of a homicidal death.
Henderson is set for a status hearing in Putnam County on April 17.
The sheriff's office was assisted by T.R.I.D.E.N.T., the Illinois State Police, Spring Valley Police Department and LaSalle County Sheriff's Office.
